On behalf of the Local Organising Committee of the 9th ICAAP, I would like to invite your participation in the upcoming congress next year in Bali, Indonesia.
We recognise that ICAAP is the second largest AIDS forum in the world and are grateful for the confidence by selecting Indonesia to host this important meeting. We are inspired by the decision and will work hard to assure that the congress activities will advance regional efforts to respond effectively to the challenge of HIV and AIDS today and in the future.
Nonetheless, we firmly believe that human beings have the capacity to face challenges before us and the rights and responsibilities to develop satisfactory solutions. In this spirit, we hope the 9th ICAAP can give birth to ideas, plans and relationships that can last longer than a week. All of us – positive people, health care professionals, public policy leaders, community advocates, activists, researchers, journalists, faith-based communities—can work to create partnerships and networks to sustain the application of new ideas born in the course of the meeting.
This year Indonesia is celebrating the 100th anniversary of our national political and intellectual awakening. We hope and pray that the 9th ICAAP will help launch a greater awakening for the whole region in our response toward the epidemic.
The Organising Committee, and the many volunteers who will be working with us, look forward to welcoming you to Indonesia, and, in particular, to the beautiful island of Bali next year.
