ARRIVING ON BALI

Before you arrive, please check the name of the area where your hotel is located. From the Ngurah Rai International Airport it will take about 20 minutes to Nusa Dua, 10-15 minutes to Kuta and Legian, 25 minutes to Seminyak, and 20 minutes to Sanur.

The 9th ICAAP local organising committee will provide free shuttle services from the airport to official 9th ICAAP hotels for delegates arriving in Bali. There will also be free shuttle services to the airport after the congress. Please check the schedule later. Even if you are not staying at an official hotel, you may use this shuttle service to the nearest hotel.  Kindly ask our volunteers as you arrive at the airport.

If for some reason, you were not able to get on our shuttle services, there are official airport taxis which are convenient with fares posted at the airport taxi stand. At time of writing (June 2009) the fare is approximately Rp 95.000,- to Nusa Dua and Sanur and Rp 50.000,- to Kuta.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The only means of land travel in Bali is by road. Public transport is relatively cheap, but in recent years have become rather scarce, since private cars and motorcycles became more numerous and much preferred by the locals.

The angkot (an acronym which means city transport) are small vans which usually serve the needs of the local population and not for tourists, while metered taxis with air-conditioning are more convenient for delegates.  Bali Taxi and Kowinu Taxi are two reliable companies which serve the areas where you will be staying at.  Both taxi companies can be called by phone (Bali Taxi: 0361-701111; Kowinu Taxi: 0361-773030) . A rough guide for fares to Nusa Dua are as follows: from Kuta approximately Rp 70.000,- and from Sanur approximately Rp 80.000,-

CAR RENTAL

Car rental is relatively cheap and is popular among tourists. You may charter a minivan (the Indonesian Kijang) or a more luxury car. Cars are usually rented with the driver, but carefully check what is being offered in the package. Some car rentals charge you by the hour, with a minimum of 3 hours. Some may charge a one-day fare (8 hours) with extra fee for additional hours. Some give different fares for intercity travelling. Some may give an all-in rental fare, while others may ask you to pay for the petrol (gasoline) at the petrol station. Check all these terms and conditions before taking the car.

There are numerous agencies and individual owners that rent cars. You may ask the concierge at your hotel for more information.

TOURIST SHUTTLES

As you walk around Nusa Dua, Kuta, and Sanur, you may find some sign boards offering shuttle services for a one-way trip to various locations with fixed prices.
